Ashford Castle & Cong Village are well known for its part in the film The Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O Hara in 1950s. You can see a virtual tour of this 13th century castle by clicking Ashford Castle.
You can also relax on a Corrib cruise from Lisloughrey Quay to Inchagoill.
Connemara is the name of the area west of Galway City with beautiful breathtaking landscapes, rugged mountains, bog, lakes, rivers and Ireland's only fjord at Killary. The National Park and Kylemore Abbey are also worth a visit. As is Clifden the captial of Connemara. This area is one of the few remaining places in Ireland where the Irish language is still spoken.
